I’ve been seeing this film promo floating around the interwebs a lot in the past week, and I think it’s spectacular. There’s so much ageism in fashion and it’s so refreshing to see a group of fashion-forward septua- and octogenarians who don’t bend to the societal expectation of dressing like “dreary old ladies,” but who dress creatively for their own enjoyment and who don’t give a damn what anyone says about it. I’m immensely irked by shows like What Not To Wear that try to constrain style into a prescribed ruled-based box; style is fluid and different for each individual, and yes, there are rules in fashion but rules are made to be broken. These ladies are fashion rebels in the best way possible, and they have both my admiration and my envy for being so fabulous.
