I’ve just discovered the blog Better Book Titles, and I’ve been snickering to myself all afternoon while perusing it… it’s totally bringing out the English-major-nerd within. The jist: people submit photoshopped images of real book covers that feature better book titles, often more succinct and with more dry wit, than the originals. Here are some altered titles for a few of my favorite books:
1. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens 2. Franny & Zooey by J.D. Salinger 3. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov 4. Lord of the Flies by William Golding 5. The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov 6. Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf 7. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami 8. 1984 by George Orwell 9. Atonement by Ian McEwan 10. Hamlet by William Shakespeare
It’s so clever! I’m unabashedly dorking out in a very literary way.
